Synopsis
Atlantic Heart (Coração Atlântico) is an independent feature film from Cape Verde, Africa.
The film tells the story of a Lucas, a streetchild, who must search the dark corners of the city to find his lost puppy before the authorities trap and destroy the animal in their pre-Carnaval clean up.
On the journey, Lucas, a naive, timid boy, learns the harsh realities of life and is forced to grow up...
Set against the colourful backdrop of the Mindelo Carnaval, the film takes us through the city's backstreets, bars, and bordellos as we follow Lucas on his life changing journey.
The film was written and directed by
BAFTA nominee Robbie McCallum and the World Premiere was held at the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles in February 2016.
